How it works simply:

Cold therapy treatment designed to reduce body inflammation and aid recovery by increasing blood flow circulation and to boost the immune and central nervous system.

The science

Whole-body cryotherapy is the process of exposing the body to temperatures below subzero (-130). It is a revolutionary non-invasive cold therapy treatment with significant showing that shows it helps to reduce inflammation in the body through the process of increasing norepinephrine an anti-Inflammatory chemical produced by the body. Treatment time lasts for 2-3 minutes which triggers the ‘fight or flight response’. Within the body there is an increase in endorphin production and oxygenated, nutrient-rich blood is directed to vital organs as a reaction to what the body perceives as a threat. Once the cryotherapy session has been completed those endorphins and oxygenated blood are redirected and released back into peripheral tissues. The positive outcome from this is a reduction in histamine (an inflammatory marker), helping to repair injured muscles, tendons, joints, and ligaments.

Cryotherapy helps with:

  • Muscle pain and inflammation
  • Depression and mood disorders
  • Immune system improvement
  • Delayed onset muscle soreness
  • Central nervous system disease
  • Degenerative disease of joints and spine
  • Inflammation of tendons, bursa, joint capsules
  • Skin-firming and tightening, cellulite reduction
  • General rejuvenation of the body and prevention of ageing
  • Stimulates the production of collagen
  • Treatment of skin defects
  • Reduces pore size and brightens dark spots
  • Reduces blemishes
  • Increases metabolism and caloric burn
  • Decreases muscle soreness, pain and inflammation
  • Reduces delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS)
  • Increase energy and peak athletic performance
  • Allows more intense and higher volume training
  • Boots lymph draining and blood circulation
  • Improves muscle strength and joint function

Cryotherapy is not recommended if you have any pf the conditions below. We would not be able to treat any individual who report having any of these conditions.

  • Untreated Hypertension
  • Heart attack within previous 6 months
  • Decompensating diseases (edema) of the cardiovascular and respiratory system;
  • Congestive Heart Failure

Whole Body Cryotherapy tightens the skin and promotes collagen production, which is a restorative beauty benefit.  Each 3 minute session burns up to 800 calories.  That equivalent to a 150 lb person walking 3.5 mph for 100 minutes.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) exposes the body to very cold temperatures (up to -180 degrees Fahrenheit) for 1-3 minutes.

Exposing the body to intense cold for a short period activates a powerful survival mechanism that causes the blood vessels near the skin to contract (vasoconstriction) and re-route blood to major organs to maintain your core body temperature.

After treatment, enriched blood rushes back to your skin and muscle tissues. Oxygenated blood is circulated and may increase collagen production and release anti-inflammatories to help relieve pain, soothe swollen joints and accelerate healing. In addition to anti-inflammatories, the release of ‘feel good’ endorphins may have you feeling positive, refreshed and relaxed.

It doesn’t. It is simply not possible to achieve the same temperatures and effects with an ice bath.

Furthermore, an ice bath is generally a painful 12-15 minutes or longer wet process, where, cryotherapy is only a 2-3 minute completely dry, pain-free session.

Research conducted over the last two decades has established the efficacy of WBC in a wide range of areas. Most research has been focused on pain management and athletic performance. Initially, whole body cryotherapy technology was developed in Japan and has been more widely used in eastern Europe for 30 years before more recently having been introduced in the United States.

Gentlemen: swimming trunks, sports shorts, or undergarments.

Ladies: swimsuit/bikini, sports shorts and top, or undergarments.

You will be provided with protective clothing including gloves, headband, face mask and socks if needed. You will also be given a robe which should be removed before entering the chamber. You will be supervised always during each session and can exit the chamber any time you wish, if needed. The treatment is comfortable and tolerable to those who may consider themselves cold-intolerant.

During each session, the body releases endorphins, which are hormones that make you feel good and energetic. The buoyant effects from each session lasts at least 6-8 hours and increase with the number of treatment sessions. Many clients have expressed that they have the best night of sleep after a cryotherapy session.

Whole body cryotherapy is very well tolerated and has minimal risks. Those who are treating for hypertension, or who are pregnant, may not be able to treat using cryotherapy. Fluctuations in blood pressure occur during the procedure by up to 10 points systolic. This effect reverses after the end of the procedure as peripheral circulation returns to normal but can be stressful on the heart to those with heart conditions. Rare allergic reaction to extreme cold (Reynaud’s disease), anxiety, activation of some viral conditions (cold sores), etc. may also be contraindications to use. Let your doctor know of any concerns or conditions before treatment.
